About
Ordering for the cafe downstairs, done properly
Book My Food is an order and delivery platform for a cafe or kitchen that serves the residents of a residential society. It replaces WhatsApp messages and the order notebook with a menu residents can order from, a kitchen board staff can trust and a rider who brings it to the flat.
Why it exists
Book My Food is for a familiar setup: a cafe or kitchen on the society premises that already delivers to flats, with orders arriving as WhatsApp messages and phone calls, written into a notebook and totalled by hand. On a busy evening that is where things go wrong: messages get buried, an order is missed or made twice, and residents call to ask where their food is.
The big delivery apps are built for restaurants delivering across a city. A society cafe has a different job: one set of towers, a short walk, regular customers and a small team. Book My Food is built for exactly that: tower, floor and flat addresses, a board the kitchen can run from a counter tablet, and a rider mode that groups deliveries by tower.
How it is built
The server is the source of truth
Prices, coupons, GST and order status are decided on the server. The phone only shows what the server says, so a bill can’t be edited on the way in and an order can’t skip a step.
Society addresses, not map pins
Inside a residential society the address is tower, floor and flat. That is what residents pick and what riders and the kitchen ticket show.
Nothing gets lost
New orders chime until someone accepts them, every status change is recorded with who made it, and residents see each step without having to call.
Personal data stays where it belongs
Residents’ names, phone numbers and flats are personal data. A live store is meant to be hosted in India; the public demo only holds fictional data.
Where it stands today
- The product works end to end: the resident website, the Android app (a preview build for now), the owner cockpit, the kitchen board and rider mode.
- bookmyfood.si runs a demo store. “Demo Residency” in Navi Mumbai, its towers R1 to R6, its customers and its order history are fictional, the 77-item menu is a draft with stock photos, payments are simulated and the login code is shown on screen.
- The engine is multi-tenant: the demo store is the first store on it, and more stores can be added without a separate copy of the software.
- Before a store goes live it needs its real menu and photos, payment and SMS providers connected, and hosting in India. The privacy notice and terms are drafts awaiting the owner’s approval.
